Alpha Kids Academy Raises $10,000 for Cure SCN2A

Jack’s daycare, Alpha Kids Academy has raised an incredible $10,000 for Cure SCN2A, showing what is possible when a caring community comes together around one of its own.

Alpha’s awareness and fundraising journey began with International SCN2A Awareness Day on 24 Feb 2026, and rather than just a day, they made a week of it. It’s safe to say there won’t be a family at the centre who hasn’t heard of SCN2A!

The children and educators engaged in colourful awareness activities and conversations about individual differences, kindness and the many ways our brains can work. Families were encouraged to wear the official SCN2A colours of blue, purple and green, with activities such as tie-dye shirts bringing an extra burst of colour and joy to the centre.

It was an important opportunity to help young children understand that everyone is different, and that difference is something to meet with care, friendship and respect.

Inspired to make an even bigger impact, Alpha Kids Academy owner Kathy reached out to local businesses and assembled an impressive raffle filled with generous prizes. The raffle was showcased at the centre’s Open Day, where families and visitors came together to enjoy the festivities, support the cause and celebrate the community behind Jack and his family.

When the prizes were drawn, the result was far bigger than a successful fundraiser. It was a powerful show of solidarity for children and families navigating a rare and complex condition.

Kathy also matched a portion of the funds raised, helping turn the community’s generosity into an even greater contribution towards critical SCN2A research and awareness.

We are enormously grateful to Kathy, Kailee and all of the Alpha Kids Academy educators and families, the local businesses that donated prizes, and every person who bought a raffle ticket, or wore the SCN2A colours.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Alpha, for helping create a brighter future for Jack and for every family affected by SCN2A-related disorders. Not only do you love and care for our little boy every day he is at the centre, but your genuine care is something we will always remember.
